Volunteer with us in May

We are now looking for new volunteers for the 2012 Festival. We need enthusiastic and reliable individuals for the following roles:

  • General front of house and box office team. No experience necessary. 
  •  2 x Technical support for screening set ups. Experience in film or sound projection. 
  •  1 x Publicity and press assistant. Knowledge of social media desirable. 
  •  2 x Assistants for Animation workshops. Film making experience desirable. 

The Southside Film Festival relies on the generosity of volunteers to help with the running of the festival and we strive to provide a good volunteering experience. Volunteering with the festival is a great opportunity meet new people or gain work experience within the film and events sector. You can expect to gain experience as part of a friendly team working on many different tasks from box office, web design, publicity to front of house.

Please provide information about what role you would be interested in, your contact details (email and mobile) and what dates/times you are available for over the festival weekend (17-20 May). If you are interested in a technical support or workshop role then please also provide a cv.

The General will be accompanied by David Gray from the Scottish Cinema Organ Trust (SCOT) on the mighty Wurlitzer cinema organ. For those of you who saw David in action on the Wurlitzer at The Cabinet of Dr Caligari at Halloween or February’s Phantom of the Opera screening then you will know this it is a live cinema experience not to be missed! The General is possibly the best comedy film every made - Buster Keaton at his best! 


What better way to end this year’s Southside Film Festival?!

Last year the inaugural Southside Film Festival Award was won by Gordon Ballantine & Antonia Bain for their film Echoes of Cinema City and this year the audience will again be asked to vote for their favourite Southside film. 

The programme of Southiside filmmakers includes short drama The Taxidermist, documentaries Fur and LoathingOur Journey and Cutting Loose and music videos Journey FC 

The winner will receive the Best Southside Film Award, announced after the closing film at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall.
